Residential Home Health

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Residential Home Health?
Residential Home Health is a nationally-recognized provider of in-home nursing and therapy care for seniors on Medicare. We are ranked among the top home health care firms for helping seniors on Medicare improve their quality of life and independence at home.
What is In-Home Healthcare?
At Residential Home Health, we define In-Home Healthcare (also known as “in-home nursing” and “homecare”) as nursing or therapy care administered in a patient’s home rather than a healthcare facility. Residential Home Health prides itself on providing the BEST healthcare services to patients in the comfort of their own home. We are able to do this because we hire primarily full-time, licensed nurses, physical and occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists and medical social workers to take care of our patients.
How do you know if you need In-Home Healthcare?
If you, or someone you love, recently has had surgery, changed medications, has been hospitalized, has had trouble with maintaining balance, or has been diagnosed with a new illness, it may be time for in-home care. At Residential Home Health, we can provide licensed nurses, therapists and home health aides so our patients can live better at home.
How does a person qualify for In-Home Nursing Care or Therapy?
Under Medicare rules, a person qualifies for in-home care if he or she is homebound and needs skilled medical care. For more eligibility information, click here. One of the best ways to find out if you or someone you know qualifies for in-home care is to call Residential Home Health at 866-902-4000.
What services does Residential Home Health provide?
Residential Home Health provides a full range of in-home healthcare services that include skilled nursing care, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, medical social services, as well as a wide range of specialized programs and progressive treatments.
Why choose Residential Home Health?
Many people do not know it, but you and your loved ones have a choice when it comes to choosing an in-home healthcare provider. Because you have a choice, you should choose the very best. Residential Home Health is ranked among the top home health care firms nationally for helping seniors on Medicare improve their quality of life and independence at home.
Why does Residential Home Health primarily hire full-time clinicians?
Residential Home Health hires full-time clinicians to drive continuity and consistency of care for our patients. Our patients are treated by the same Residential nurse or therapist as often as possible, unlike many in-home providers who rotate their clinicians. We have found that this consistency of care helps our patients recover faster and have a higher quality of life.
Does Residential Home Health work with doctors?
Yes we do. Our dedicated and skilled clinicians help coordinate the care your doctor prescribes. In support of your doctor’s orders, we develop a written plan for your care. It explains what services you will receive in order to reach your best physical, mental, and social well-being. At Residential Home Health, we pride ourselves on staying in touch with your doctor. In fact, your doctor will be able to access your visit notes 24/7 through our secure, online, HIPAA-compliant Physician Portal.
What areas does Residential Home Health serve?”
Residential Home Health clinicians serve 34 counties throughout the lower peninsula of Michigan and 6 counties in the western suburbs of Chicago. Our licensed clinicians live in or near the areas they serve. It helps reduce drive time for our nurses and helps our patients feel a little more comfortable, knowing that someone in their community is helping them. Will insurance cover my care?
Residential Home Health is a Medicare–Certified provider and also accepts Medicaid and many private insurances, so most doctor-prescribed care is covered for a specific period. If you qualify for Medicare and meet eligibility requirements, there are no out-of-pocket expenses. Please call us at 866-902-4000 for more information.
How do I schedule my first visit?
Talk to your doctor or call Residential Home Health at 866-902-4000. Once we receive a physician’s order for care, we will set a date and time for your first visit from a Registered Nurse. We will do our best to accommodate any schedule request you may have.
Do I need to have a doctor’s order for In-Home Care?
Yes, a doctor's order is mandatory before receiving any evaluations or care. Your therapist and nurse will work under the doctor, communicating status, changes and progress. The doctor monitors the progress and directs the care of the patient.
What should I do in case of an emergency?
In case of an emergency, have someone contact your doctor, or if necessary call 9-1-1.

What should I do if I am admitted to the hospital?
If you are admitted to the hospital, please have someone contact the Residential office at 866-902-4000 to inform us of your status. When you return home, please call our office again to restart services and continue care.
